Once, in an old, worn barn, lived a cheerful little ferret named Bill. Bill was a thrill to watch, his fur silver and still in the early morn. He loved to play.
His best friend, Jill, was a playful bird. Jill lived in a fern filled dell, near the barn.
One day, Jill felt ill. "Oh Bill, I feel so still. I can't flit or turn, I'm too unwell," she said.
Bill, quick and full of concern, raced to the barn for some warm milk. "Drink up, Jill," he said, "This will make you well."
Jill sipped the milk, and soon, she felt her strength return. "Oh Bill," she chirped, "You're the best friend in the world!"
And they played till dusk, in the fern dell, happy and well.
