All about Sally Ride

Sally Ride was an amazing woman who made history as the first American woman to fly into space. She was born on May 26, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. Sally was very smart and loved studying science and math. She worked hard in school and became a physicist.

In 1978, NASA chose Sally to be an astronaut. She trained hard for many months to prepare for her space mission. On June 18, 1983, Sally Ride made history when she flew into space aboard the space shuttle Challenger. She spent six days in space, conducting experiments and observing the Earth from above.

After her space missions, Sally continued to inspire others, especially young girls, to pursue their dreams in science and space exploration. She wrote books and worked to encourage more women to become astronauts. Sally Ride showed everyone that with hard work and determination, you can achieve your goals no matter what.

Sadly, Sally passed away in 2012, but her legacy lives on as an inspiration to all who dream of reaching for the stars.
