Welcome to Phibsborough

Phibsborough is a special townland in Dublin, Ireland. It has a history that's as fascinating as a storybook! Did you know, even though it's part of a big city now, it was once a small village?

The name 'Phibsborough' comes from Bishop James Phibbs. He lived a long, long time ago in the 18th century. That's over 200 years ago! He owned much of the land that Phibsborough is on today.

One of the most interesting things about Phibsborough is a big, round building, called the 'Phibsborough Shopping Centre'. It was built in the 1960s, which is more than 50 years ago. It may not look like much now, but when it was first built, people from all over Dublin came to shop there!

Phibsborough also has a beautiful park, called the 'Blessington Basin'. This was once a reservoir for the city's water, built in the 19th century. Today, it's a place where people go to relax and enjoy nature.

My Family and Phibsborough

Hi there! I'm Casey, and I'm 8 years old. I live in a place called Phibsborough, but my friends and I like to call it Phibsboro. It's in Dublin, Ireland. It's really cool here!

Did you know that Phibsboro has a big old tower? It's called the Broadstone Railway Station. I like to imagine it as a castle with kings and queens. My school is near the Royal Canal. It's a long river that goes all the way out of Dublin. Sometimes, we feed the ducks there after school.

There's also a shopping center, Phibsboro Shopping Centre. It's not a big mall like in movies, but it's our mall. My mom goes there for groceries and sometimes, I get to pick a toy!

I think the best part is our library, Phibsborough Library. It has so many books! I love to read about dinosaurs and space. Maybe one day, I'll be a dinosaur finding astronaut!
