Welcome to Oldbawn

Oldbawn is a small, yet interesting place in Ireland. Its name in Irish means 'Old Cow', which gives us a clue about its history. A long time ago, this place was full of farms with lots of cows!

One special thing about Oldbawn is the Oldbawn House built in 1635. Imagine, more than 300 years ago! This house was very important because the people who lived there were leaders in the community.

Though no big battles or famous events happened in Oldbawn, something else makes it special. In the 1800s, a school was built there. This was a big deal because back then, not every town had a school. Children from Oldbawn and nearby areas could learn reading, writing, and arithmetic there.

Today, Oldbawn might look like just another town, but if you look closely and remember its story, you can imagine the old farms, the grand house, and the little school where children learned their letters. That's the magic of Oldbawn's history!

My Family and Oldbawn

Hi! I'm Ellis and I just turned 8 years old. I live in a cool place called Oldbawn. It's so fun here because there's lots to do. One of my favourite places is the big park. It's got a giant slide and super fast swings! Sometimes, I see squirrels running around and I try to chase them, but they're too fast!

There's also this awesome bridge nearby that we call the Oldbawn Bridge. It's very old and huge! My friends and I love to play hide and seek around it. But the best thing about Oldbawn is the river. It's so pretty and sparkly. I like to watch the ducks swimming and sometimes, I feed them bread.

I also love to climb the big hill behind our house. When you get to the top, you can see the whole of Oldbawn. It's so beautiful! My friends and I often have picnics there. I can't wait to have more adventures as I grow up in Oldbawn!
