The story of Newbridge began with a family named the Eyres who decided to build a new bridge over the River Liffey in 1750. This is how the town got its name - Newbridge, meaning "new bridge".
In the 19th-century, it grew bigger because of the railway system. The trains brought more people and business to the town.
One interesting thing happened during the Irish rebellion in 1798. The rebels had a big fight against the British army near Newbridge. The place where the battle happened is called 'The Curragh', which is now famous for horse racing.

Hi, I'm Kaden and I'm 8 years old. I live in a place called Newbridge in Co. Kildare. It's a super cool place. We have a big park named the Liffey Linear Park. I love going there to play on the swings and feed the ducks. There's a big river called the River Liffey that flows through it. I like to watch it flow and make ripples.
Another cool place here is the Whitewater Shopping Centre. It's really big with lots of shops. Mum takes me there to buy my school stuff and sometimes, we eat ice cream. I love the colourful balloons they have there.
We also have the Curragh Plains near Newbridge. It's a huge open field where you can see horses racing. Dad took me there once, and I saw a brown horse winning the race. It was exciting!
