Lesson 1: Introduction to Nero 60 minutes Whiteboard, Markers, Map of Ancient Rome, Pictures of Nero Introduce Nero and show his picture. Ask students if they have heard of him and what they might know. Discuss where and when Nero lived. Use the map to show Ancient Rome. Discuss what Nero is famous for. Recap key points about Nero’s life and significance. Ask students to write down three facts they learned about Nero.
Lesson 2: Nero’s Contributions to Society and Culture 60 minutes Whiteboard, Markers, Pictures of Ancient Roman culture, Video clips (if available) Recap previous lesson. Introduce the idea of contributions to society and culture. Discuss Nero’s contributions, both positive and negative. Use pictures and video clips to illustrate. Summarize the discussion on Nero’s impact on Roman society. Students will create a drawing or short paragraph about one of Nero’s contributions.
Lesson 3: Nero’s Impact Discussion 60 minutes Whiteboard, Markers, Chart paper, Markers Recap the previous lesson. Pose the question: "How did Nero’s actions impact his time and ours?" Divide the class into groups. Each group discusses and writes down Nero’s impacts. Share findings with the class. Summarize the group discussions and highlight key points. Students will present their group’s findings and participate in a class discussion.
Lesson 4: Connecting Nero to Our Lives 60 minutes Whiteboard, Markers, Chart paper, Markers Discuss how historical figures can be connected to our lives today.
