Welcome to Kilconny

Kilconny is a really special place in County Cavan, Ireland. It has a long history that goes back hundreds of years!

In the past, Kilconny was part of the Kingdom of Breifne, ruled by Irish chieftains. The O’Rourkes and the O’Reillys were famous families who ruled here. They had lots of exciting adventures, just like the ones in your storybooks!

One cool thing about Kilconny is its old buildings. Have you heard of a workhouse? It was a place where poor people lived and worked long ago. There was one in Kilconny in the 1800s. It's not there anymore, but it's an important part of the town's story.

Over time, Kilconny changed a lot. People built homes and schools, and the town grew. But even as things changed, people remembered the town's history and shared it with their children, like we're doing now.

So, even though it might seem like just a small town, Kilconny has a big history filled with kings, old buildings, and lots of change. And that makes it a very interesting place!

My Family and Kilconny

Hi! I'm Kasey and I'm 8 years old. I live in a really cool place called Kilconny, in Co. Cavan. Do you know what's awesome about Kilconny? We're right next to the River Erne, it's so big and beautiful!

One of my favourite places to go is Tullymongan Hill. It's just a short walk from my house. When I reach the top, I can see the whole town! It's really cool to see everything from up high. There's also an old castle up there, but it's mostly ruins now. My friends and I like to make up stories about who used to live there.

Also, not too far from my house is the Cavan County Museum. It's really fun to go there and learn about the history of our town. They even have a real World War 1 trench that you can explore. It's kind of scary but exciting at the same time!

That's a little bit about me and my town. I hope you liked my post. Bye for now!
