Welcome to Highpark

Highpark is a little townland found in County Sligo, Ireland. Long, long ago, before your grandparents' time, it was a bustling place filled with people, animals, and plenty of activities.

Highpark has a rich history. Did you know that it was part of an ancient Kingdom called "Tir Fhiacrach"? That sounds like something out of a fairy tale, right? Well, it was a real kingdom, and the people living there were known as the "Fir Fhiacrach".

Sadly, there were no dragons or wizards in Highpark's past, but there were many farmers. They grew crops, raised animals, and took care of the land. Some of the old farmhouses are still standing today, like stone sentinels telling stories of the old days.

Highpark may not have been the site of big battles or famous events, but it's an important part of Ireland's past. Every stone, every field, and every old house has a story to tell. And who knows? Maybe one day, you'll visit Highpark and discover a new story of your own!

My Family and Highpark

Hi, my name is Gray! I'm 8 years old, and I live in Highpark Co., Sligo. It's really cool here. There's always something fun to do. I love to go to the playground with my friends. It’s right next to the big school which I go to. The school has a huge field where we play football during breaks.

Our town is not too big, but it's just perfect for me. We have a little river that runs through it. Sometimes I go with my dad to catch little fish. We always let them go again, though! My favorite place is the 'Horseshoe', a big hill shaped like a horseshoe. It's fun to climb, and the view from the top is really amazing. You can see the whole town from up there!

There's also a cool forest near my house where I love to explore. I often find interesting bugs and pretty flowers. I take pictures and show them to my class. My teacher says I’m a little explorer!
