Welcome to Haroldsgrange

Once upon a time, in the beautiful county of Dublin, there lies a peaceful place called Haroldsgrange. Named after Harold, a noble Viking warrior, this townland holds a dash of history and a lot of charm.

Haroldsgrange might not be the biggest or the busiest place in Dublin, but it's quite special. It's like a quiet, friendly neighbour in the bustling city. Guess what? There's no big castle or famous battle that happened here, but that doesn't mean Haroldsgrange is boring!

In fact, Haroldsgrange has a rich farming history. Imagine this, long ago, instead of cars and houses, there were lots and lots of sheep, cows, and horses. Farmers would wake up at the crack of dawn, look after their animals and grow crops for everyone to eat.

People lived simple, hardworking lives and everyone knew their neighbours. They would help each other in farming and celebrate the harvest together! Even today, you can still see some of that friendly spirit in Haroldsgrange.

So, remember, every place has its own story, even if it's not filled with famous battles or kings. Even a calm, quiet place like Haroldsgrange has a rich history that makes it special.

My Family and Haroldsgrange

Hi there! I'm Kaden and I'm 8 years old. I live in a very cool place called Haroldsgrange in Co. Dublin. It's really fun living here because there's always so much to do and see.

My favourite place to go is Marlay Park. It's super big and has a great playground. Sometimes, my friends and I have races from one side of the park to the other. I usually win, but don't tell them I told you that! There are also lots of ducks there, and if you're lucky, you might even see a swan!

Another place I like is the Dundrum Town Centre. It's a huge shopping centre with a cinema and lots of places to eat. My family and I often go there on the weekends to watch a movie or have dinner.

Even my school is pretty cool. It's called Holy Cross and it's right in Haroldsgrange. My teacher is really nice and I've made lots of friends. We learn lots of interesting things every day. I can't wait to tell you more about my life in Haroldsgrange. Bye for now!

The Logainm of Haroldsgrange

Haroldsgrange is a special place in County Dublin, Ireland. The name 'Haroldsgrange' is an English version of the Irish name 'Ráthín na hIarla'. If we break it down, 'Ráthín' means 'small fort' and 'Iarla' means 'Earl'. So, Haroldsgrange means 'The small fort of the Earl' in English.

Long, long ago, there lived a nobleman known as an Earl. He was very important, and he had a small fort in this place. That's how it got its name! Over the years, people started calling it Haroldsgrange, which was easier for them to say in English. But, remember, its Irish name reminds us of the Earl and his small fort.
