Once upon a time, in the lovely townland of Faughart Upper in Co. Louth, something very important happened. This is the birthplace of none other than Saint Brigid, one of Ireland's most beloved saints! She was born here way back in the 5th century.

My Family and Faughart Upper

Hi, I'm Lee and I'm 8 years old. I live in Faughart Upper in Co. Louth. You probably haven't heard of it, but it's a really cool place! We have awesome things like the Killin Wood and the Faughart Shrine. The Killin Wood is a big and fun forest where I love going for walks with my mum and dad, and sometimes we even have picnics there!

Another place I like is the Faughart Shrine. It's a very old place and people come from far away to see it. There's a well there that's supposed to be magical! I don't know if it's true, but it's still fun to make a wish there. I usually wish to have a new toy or a fun day at the park.

Living in Faughart Upper is like living in a storybook. There's so much history and so many fun places to explore. I can't wait to grow up here and learn more about all the cool things around me. But for now, I'm just happy to be an 8-year-old kid having fun in the woods and making wishes at the shrine.

Long, long ago, people believed that a mythical hero named Cuchulainn had his last battle in Faughart. He's a big part of Irish stories and legends!
