Welcome to Dunmoe

Dunmoe is a magical little townland tucked away in County Meath, Ireland. Many, many years ago, in a time of knights and castles, Dunmoe was home to a grand castle known as Dunmoe Castle. Imagine a giant sandcastle, but made with stone - that was Dunmoe Castle!

The castle was built by a brave knight named Hugh de Lacy around the 12th century. Hugh was a busy man, he built many castles around Ireland, but Dunmoe Castle was special. It was right beside the beautiful River Boyne, which acted as a mirror reflecting the castle's glory.

Over the centuries, the castle has seen battles, kings, and queens. But now, it's a bit tired and worn out. Parts of it have crumbled away, but if you squint your eyes and use your imagination, you can still see the grand castle it once was.

Today, Dunmoe is a peaceful place, full of green fields and friendly people. The castle's ruins still stand, whispering stories of the past to those who listen. Next time you build a sandcastle, remember Dunmoe Castle and imagine all the stories it could tell if it could talk.

My Family and Dunmoe

Hi, I'm Sammy and I'm 8 years old. I live in a cool place called Dunmoe Co. Meath. It's really fun here! There's a lot of green fields where I play football with my friends. When the weather's nice, we have picnics by the river Boyne. It's super big and sparkly under the sun.

One of the best things about Dunmoe is the Hill of Tara. It's a high hill with a lot of old stuff. My teacher said it was a royal place a long, long time ago. I like to imagine I'm a king or queen when I'm there!

There's also a really big tree called the Fairy Tree. People tie ribbons on it and make wishes. I wished for a puppy last time. I wonder if the fairies heard me!

I love living in Dunmoe. It's always an adventure here. There's so much to see and do. I can't wait to explore more!
