My Family and Doonaun

Hi, I'm Sam and I'm 8 years old. I live in a little place called Doonaun in Co. Clare. It's really cool here! There's so much green everywhere. We have fields and fields where I play hide and seek with my friends. There's a big river called the Fergus River. I love throwing stones and watching them plop into the water.

But the best thing is the Dromore Wood Nature Reserve. It's full of trees and animals. I saw a red squirrel once! It was so fast; I wish I could climb like it. There's also a really old castle in the reserve. It's called O'Brien's Castle. I pretend I'm a knight defending the castle when I'm there. It's fun!

Sometimes, we go to the local market in Ennis. I love the smell of fresh bread and watching people. There's always something happening. I feel so lucky to be growing up in Doonaun. It's the best place ever!
