My Family and Coolcotts Lane

Hi! I'm Max, and I'm 8 years old. I live on Coolcotts Lane, and it's the coolest place ever! There's so much to do and see here.

One of my favorite places is the big park at the end of our street. It has the tallest slide and the best swings. I like going there with my friends after school. We have races to see who can swing the highest!

We also have a super cool library around the corner. It's in a really old building that looks like a castle. I love going there to pick out new books. The librarian, Mrs. Smith, always helps me find the best ones.

There's also a pond with ducks near my house. Sometimes, my mom and I feed them bread. It's really fun to watch them waddle around and quack!

Living on Coolcotts Lane is the best. I can't wait to grow up here and have more adventures!

The Logainm of Coolcotts Lane

Coolcotts Lane is a special place with a unique name, known as a logainm. A logainm is a word in Irish that tells us the name of a place. Coolcotts Lane is made up of two parts. 'Cool' comes from the Irish word 'CĂșil' which means corner or nook. 'Cotts' might come from the English word 'cottages'. So Coolcotts Lane might mean 'lane of the corner cottages'.

Long ago, this name could have been given because there were small houses or cottages nestled in a cozy corner. These cottages might have been homes to families who worked the land, or perhaps they were used as holiday homes.

Today, Coolcotts Lane is still a lovely place to live or visit. The name helps us remember the history and the people who lived there long before us. When you walk down Coolcotts Lane, imagine those old corner cottages and the lives of the people who once called them home.
