Clara Barton was an amazing woman who lived a long time ago. She was born in 1821 in Massachusetts, USA. Clara was very brave and kind-hearted. She loved helping others and making a difference in their lives.

When Clara was a little girl, she cared for her sick brother. This made her realize that she wanted to help people when she grew up. So, she became a teacher and loved teaching kids.

But Clara's true calling came during the American Civil War. She saw injured soldiers and wanted to help them. So, she started a mission to bring medical supplies and care to the soldiers on the battlefield. She even risked her own life to help them.

After the war, Clara learned about the Red Cross, an organization that helps people in need. She wanted to bring the Red Cross to America, so she worked very hard to make it happen. Thanks to her efforts, the American Red Cross was established in 1881.

I learned about Clara Barton in school, and I was so excited to see the city where she did so many important things.

One of the places I visited was the Clara Barton Missing Soldiers Office Museum. It's a really old building, and it's where Clara Barton lived and worked. Inside, there were lots of interesting things to see, like old letters and medical supplies. I even got to sit at Clara Barton's desk! It made me feel like a real helper, just like she was.

After that, we went to the National Museum of American History. There, I saw the American flag that inspired Clara Barton to start the American Red Cross.
