All about C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis was a famous writer who created the magical world of Narnia. He was born on November 29, 1898, in Belfast, Ireland. When he was a child, he loved reading books and creating imaginary lands with his brother. Sadly, his mother died when he was young, and he had to go to boarding school, which was very tough for him.

As he grew older, C.S. Lewis went to college at Oxford University in England, where he studied literature and eventually became a professor. During his life, he fought in World War I, which was very difficult and sad. But he kept on writing and teaching.

One day, his good friend J.R.R. Tolkien, who wrote "The Lord of the Rings," encouraged him to become a Christian. This changed his life, and he started writing books about his faith and his ideas.

C.S. Lewis is best known for writing "The Chronicles of Narnia," a series of seven books about children who find a magical land with talking animals and brave adventures. The first book, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," is the most famous.

C.S. Lewis died on November 22, 1963, but his stories are still loved by many people around the world. His books teach us about courage, friendship, and the power of imagination.

Symbols and Traditions

Hi! My name is Jamie and I am 8 years old. I just got back from a trip to Oxford, where C.S. Lewis, the author of The Chronicles of Narnia, lived. It was so much fun! My family and I visited the place called The Kilns, which is where C.S. Lewis wrote his amazing books.

The Kilns is a house with a beautiful garden. I imagined I was in Narnia while walking around. We even saw the room where he wrote his stories. It was so cool to think that C.S. Lewis sat in that very room and created a world with talking animals and magical adventures!

After visiting The Kilns, we went to the Oxford University where he taught. The buildings were so old and pretty. I felt like I was in a fairy tale. My dad told me that C.S. Lewis was a professor there, and it made me want to read more of his books when I get home.

I had a great time in Oxford and learned a lot about C.S. Lewis. If you ever get a chance to visit, make sure to go to The Kilns and the university. It’s like stepping into a storybook!
