Good day everyone, I have some exciting news to share. A rare bat was found in Ireland! This bat is called the Nathusius' pipistrelle, and most of the time, these bats live in places that are far away from here, like Eastern Europe.
One day, a bat expert named Daniel saw this little bat hanging around in a park. He was very surprised because it's not normal to see this type of bat in Ireland. He said it was like finding a penguin waddling around in the middle of the city!
We are not sure why this bat decided to come to Ireland. Perhaps it was blown off course while migrating, or maybe it just wanted to see what Ireland is like. Bats, you see, usually move from place to place when the weather gets cold, looking for somewhere warmer to live.
But don't worry, this little bat is safe and sound. Daniel and his friends are taking good care of it. They will make sure it is healthy before they help it get back home. This is an important job because bats are good for our environment. They eat lots of insects, which helps keep the bug population under control.
So, the next time you see a bat, remember they are our friends. And who knows, you might even spot another rare bat like the Nathusius' pipistrelle!
That's all for now. Signing off, this is Shannon Ó Riordáin, reminding you that even the smallest creatures can bring big surprises.
